Here is an update from Spacious Mind Counselling and Psychotherapy to let you know what we are doing to ensure the safety of our clients and staff.

Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued a directive requiring that all non-essential and elective health care services stop or be reduced to minimal levels until further notice. Allowable exceptions are possible to avert negative patient outcomes or avoid situations that would have a negative impact on patient safety.

Bearing this in mind we have stopped seeing clients in our office at 55 Cork Street and are now offering online and phone therapy sessions as well as brief check-ins/coaching if needed.

We think it is really important to continue to serve the people we support with their mental health and overall well being, perhaps even more so now.

We have a secure online video platform that allows therapy to happen in the comfort of your own home. We already see many clients online and it is a great way to continue in therapy and keep connected.

It is basically like Skype or Zoom but with a much higher level of security to ensure the confidentiality of sessions. We use a platform called Simple Practice, if you want to learn more please click here https://www.simplepractice.com/telehealth

Internet-based therapy has been found to be effective for a wide range of conditions in well over 100 controlled trials. Link to studies if you would like to read more.

If you would like to try this please let us know and we can easily schedule a trial run to see if you feel comfortable with this.

We understand that people still want in-person therapy and would rather come to the office however in the interests of public safety we are unfortunately not offering this to people. Once these changes we will update this policy.
